The federal government’s Zero Trust Data Security working group, under the mandate of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), recently published a detailed guide with key considerations and guidance on implementing a modern Zero Trust Architecture (“ZTA”) specific for data security. This goes above and beyond the baseline concept of zero trust which is typically designed to protect access to systems and applications (of which may or may not contain sensitive data). The guidance follows many of the same guiding principles, however, has a distinct focus on implementing for the purpose of protecting sensitive data.
