ENGAGEMENT

The strategy office of a major healthcare payer & provider was concerned that its approach to project completion was falling behind its competitors. It sought to transform its business into an Agile at Scale company, which required the development of an agile strategy, identification of candidate agile teams, training on the relevant roles & methodologies and coaching of teams through the beginning of their agile journey

PROBLEM

The client organization operated within a traditional hierarchical structure, which hindered its ability to quickly implement change. The healthcare industry is often characterized by command-and-control frameworks that prioritize safety over innovation, making it challenging to adapt to new market demands. With disruptive technologies emerging and the political climate shifting, the executives recognized the need for a more agile approach. They saw agile as the optimal organizational methodology to enable quick reactions to industry changes.

SOLUTION

DayBlink Consulting began by developing an agile strategy tailored to the organization’s needs. This involved identifying candidate agile teams and providing training on agile roles and methodologies to an initial cohort of champions. The training aimed to equip teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the agile landscape effectively and build buy-in through the organization. DayBlink Consulting also provided ongoing coaching.

After obtaining buy-in on the strategy and teams, DayBlink Consulting crafted a comprehensive plan to transition the organization to an agile framework while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing projects. The agile transformation process involved several critical steps. DayBlink Consulting collaborated with senior executives to define a rollout strategy. We provided frameworks and a new organizational model. Next we implemented several agile tools including Jira and Confluence. These tools facilitated better collaboration and transparency. Finally, we trained over 500 resources on essential agile processes and roles (including Agile Coaches, Product Managers and Scrum Masters).

RESULT

The client organization successfully transitioned to a scaled agile framework, enabling it to respond more quickly and effectively to industry changes. This transformation positioned the organization to stay competitive and innovative in a dynamic healthcare landscape. Agile teams coached by the DayBlink Consulting organization saw increases of over 30% in throughput once adopting the agile practices implemented.
