ENGAGEMENT
Senior leadership at a large enterprise technology organization desired an updated company-wide technology strategy. DayBlink Consulting led and managed a strategic development and roadmapping engagement with the client to define the scalable automation approach, and identify high-priority opportunities across the organization. DayBlink Consulting was responsible for interviewing stakeholders to identify pain points & future opportunities, documenting those opportunities through capturing the potential impact and value of the opportunity, and finally planning the highest priority items into an updated technology roadmap.
PROBLEM
The organization initially struggled with how to prioritize automation and new technology opportunities, largely due to a lack of familiarity with automation across different business functions and no agreed-upon framework for evaluation. Technology leaders sought to implement a variety of tools (IPaaS, RPA, Low-code, etc.) prior to building consensus on goals and expected benefits.
SOLUTION
DayBlink Consulting embarked on an extensive project to revamp the technology strategy for an enterprise’s technology organization, aiming to position it for future success. The primary goal was to identify opportunities that would not only increase efficiency but also lead to significant cost savings throughout the organization. By interviewing over 30 stakeholders across eight business functions, the team was able to identify over 500 pain points. These pain points were then analyzed and consolidated into about 50 viable future technology improvement opportunities. DayBlink Consulting evaluated each opportunity based on two main factors: the expected value/savings and the complexity of implementation. The value was assessed based on transaction volume, transaction completion timing, process consistency and other relevant metrics. The complexity of automation was evaluated by considering factors such as SDLC effort, material costs, maintenance requirements, confidence in successful implementation and potential cost savings. We then presented the results of this assessment to the technology and business function leadership teams. This prioritization process was crucial for gaining buy-in from leadership and aligning the organization’s resources towards the most impactful automation projects.
RESULT
Ultimately, DayBlink Consulting identified 50 technology project opportunities spanning various functions, including HR, Finance, IT, and others. DayBlink Consulting was then engaged to oversee the development of these high-value opportunities, ensuring that the organization could effectively implement and benefit from the identified automation initiatives. Within the first two years after the project ended, the organization realized several million dollars of cost savings.
